Jun Lana (Philippines, Playwright Delegate 1991)
After the World Interplay Festival in 1991, Jun Lana went into writing for film. Jun Lana's first film "In the Navel of the Sea" had its world premiere at the 1998 Berlin International Film Festival. Jun Lana also won a Best Screenplay award for the film at the 1998 Brussels International Film Festival. Today, Jun Lana divides time between writing and directing for film and television.
Jacqueline Lawton (United States of America, Playwright Delegate 2003)
In May of 2003, Jacqueline E. Lawton (World Interplay 2003 Alumni) completed her MFA in Playwriting from the University of Texas at Austin. Since then, she has worked diligently to remain actively involved in theatre as an actress, dramaturg, playwright and teaching artist. Currently, she resides in Washington DC, where she has worked with Active Cultures: the Vernacular Theatre of Maryland, CHAW, DC Dollies & the Rocket Bitch Revue, Extreme Exchange, Folger Shakespeare Library, Ford’s Theater Society, Journeymen Theater Ensemble, Shakespeare Theater Company, Stage Door, Woolly Mammoth, and Young Playwrights’ Theater. Ms. Lawton is happy to announce that she will be joining Arena Stage in August. Her newest play "Deep Belly Beautiful" will receive a reading in DC in August and she is currently developing a new script, "Fat Fag Hag in a Bridesmaid’s Dress".
Richard Jordan (Brisbane, Australia, Playwright Delegate 2005)
Since Interplay, Richard has graduated from a Master of Arts (Playwrighting) degree at Queensland University of Technology and has had an extract from his academic thesis published in the national youth arts journal 'Lowdown'. He has also had three of his short plays performed in various festivals. In August 2006 he leaves for a big London adventure!
Victoria Carless (Cairns, Australia, Playwright Delegate 2005)
In 2006, Victoria is the recipient of the George Landen Dann Award for her play, 'The Rainbow Dark'. The play will receive a reading at The Works Festival on the 11th August at the Billie Brown Studio in Brisbane, Australia. It will also be performed in the Backbone Youth Arts Fragments season in October this year.
Elise Hearst (Melbourne, Australia, Playwright Delegate 2005)
Elise’s festival script play ‘Apple’ has found much success after being developed at the 2005 festival. ‘Apple’ was recently given a professional rehearsed reading at a young playwrights studio at LaMama theatre in Melbourne and won second place in the National Open playwright's competition. This highly comptetive prize is sponsored by Monash University in Melbourne.
Paul Rothwell (New Zealand, Playwright Delegate 2005)
Paul’s Interplay script ‘Golden Boys’ was recently performed at circa theatre in Wellington, where it was very well received.
