 | World Interplay follows the Interplay Model. Activity happens in groups, and one-on-one sessions. |
 | The Base Group |
 | This is the core working group of the Festival. In each group, about eight playwright delegates work with two or three international director/dramaturg delegates. The groups provide small group-reading and play development workshops, so that all young writers have their work dealt with in a secure and positive way. Base groups also discuss issues about writing, theatre, and Interplay. At the end of the Festival, each Base Group makes a short presentation. |
 | One-on-One |
 | A director/dramaturg delegate and a young playwright delegate meet to discuss the young playwright's work. These are informal sessions. |
 | Elective Workshops |
 | These are sessions led by director/dramaturg delegates. Examples include: Working with Script Editors; Theatre and Other Forms; Alternative Structures. |
 | Panel Sessions |
 | These are chaired discussions where key speakers make brief statements, followed by open discussion. These panel discussions might include topics such as: Making Theatre in Different Cultures, International Opportunities for Playwrights, Theatre in War Zones |
 | Your Town/Our Town |
 | Each Base Group interviews a local Townsville person, and then over the second week of the Festival creates a ten-minute theatre piece inspired by that person's life. These pieces are presented to a Townsville public audience. |
 | Social Activities |
 | There are excursions available to Magnetic Island, and to Billabong Sanctuary, where you can mingle with kangaroos, cuddle a koala, hold a wombat, and see crocodiles. |
