Interplay is a not-for-profit arts organisation committed to the development of young playwrights through process-driven initiatives that connect, nurture and inspire the global playwrights’ community.

Founded in 1985 in Sydney, Australia, Interplay delivers four festivals:

World Interplay, for playwrights aged 18-26, is the largest international festival of young playwrights in the world. For two weeks every two years, fifty playwrights from thirty nations are joined by leading international directors and dramaturgs for two weeks of play development, workshops, forums, and cultural exchange.

Brisbane Interplay is a new festival for Brisbane playwrights aged 13-26. Catering for new and emerging playwrights, the inspiring and rigourous classes, workshops and forums are delivered by local, interstate and international tutors over four days. In 2007, Brisbane Interplay will take place from October 4-7.

Youth Interplay, for Australian playwrights aged 13-17, is a biennial three-day festival that links promising writers with leading professional practitioners in an atmosphere of shared learning.

Interplay's Online Festival, for playwrights aged 13-26, develops and connects young artists from around the world. It is a three-month, web-based initiative using Interplay's proven model for play and playwright development.
Interplay has a network of 34 international representatives. Interplay festivals, using the Interplay model, also take place in Europe and Africa.

The very first Brisbane Interplay Festival is sheduled for early October, 2007 in Brisbane, Queensland!

At Brisbane Interplay, emerging playwrights aged 13-26 from Brisbane and Queensland have the opportunity to immerse themselves in playwriting intensives over four days. Professional tutors will work closely with younr writers to pass on skills and craft, to develop new work, as well as to offer dramturgy and feedback on scripts that writers may have already written.
